A Trip

Just recently, well just yesterday, I had a day business trip with my elder sis, bro-in-law and her MIL, to Penang. Weird combi aye, but everything went pretty well. The plan initially included only myself n sis, but MIL wanted to come as well, so bro came too. I was MIL's partner for the day, and its neat what you can learn from others when you travel. She turned to be quite a terrific travel partner...

Anyway, melalut lak. This was supposed to be on my trip. We set out from the agency at 12am Friday, on a luxury tour bus, they provided karipap (macam tau-tau je its my fav kuih in the the world! So I was much happier after) and just a few words as starters for the trip. During the trip, the bus driver thought it'd be nice to put on the VCD, of Snakes on the Plane, but turned out agak disastrous, coz half way through, the scenes were not quite.ehem...good to watch. I was laughing my head of (in my heart though...the crowd was quite too Malay to accept), making a straight and serious face, while shouting for the driver to turn it off with te rest (such an actress!) After that everything went black, knocked out till the bus stopped at Tapah, went to toilet, and continued my sleep, till we reach Penang. I didn't even realise when we crossed the bridge!

Our first stop was the Masjid Negeri. Such splendour! We had a bath in the men's bathroom (!) coz there were too many ladies, and no men were using it at that moment. That was something else! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. The trip consisted of 14 busses of ladies only and about 10 men. Prayed Subuh, and set out to the HQ. Breakfast was grand, and we were sent for a grand tour of the facilities and factory. I always thought that things made in bulk would all come from machines. But I'm impressed on how MAN-MADE the jewelleries are from Zhulian. Every detail (except the basics from the mould) is hand made. The tour was impressive, and we had a talk on healthcare with a reknowned nutritionist, Dr. Azhar. Next was lunch, and again, was fantastic, with Nasi Tomato, Kari Udang, Kari Sotong, Ayam Masak Merah, Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet, Rojak Buah, some fruits for dessert, and Air Laici. After lunch, the gathering resumed, and we set off after, at about 5.30pm. This time, we didn't get to sleep till almost Tapah, coz the guide asked each one of us to break the ice, so that when we meet next time, it wouldn't be too odd.

We arrived at the agency at about midnight, and at last, I get to sleep the most beautiful sleep for the week....

Office Eatout

Been a while since my office had a get together, which includes a good meal. We went slurpin' away last week at Johnny's Steamboat. I'd just like to consider the gathering as a Raya gathering, but someone is leaving the office (permanently, unlike myself) so we celebrated his leave as well. Anyway, service was excellent, food was good as well. I called in just about 2 hours before coming with 20 others, and when we arrived, all were pleased with the setting. This particular Johnny's at The Summit has a nice atmosphere as well, and good ventilation. I managed to go through the meal without a drop of sweat, while cooking away happily. Everyone had a good time and looking forward to the next gathering. Btw...for further info on the restaurant, check out this website: http://www.johnnyrestaurant.com/promotion.htm

Irreplaceable

To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left

Everything you own in the box to the left
In the closet that's my stuff - Yes

If I bought it nigga please don't touch
And keep talking that mess, that's fine
But could you walk and talk at the same time
And It's my mine name that is on that Jag
So remove your bags let me call you a cab

Standing in the front yard telling me
How I'm such a fool - Talking about
How I'll never ever find a man like you
You got me twisted

You must not know about me
You must not know about me
I could have another you in a minute
matter fact he'll be here in a minute - baby

You must not know about me
You must not know about me
I can have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're irreplaceable

So go ahead and get gone
And call up on that chick and see if she is home
Oops, I bet ya thought that I didn't know
What did you think I was putting you out for?
Cause you was untrue
Rolling her around in the car that I bought you
Baby you dropped them keys hurry up before your taxi leaves
Standing in the front yard telling me
How I am such a fool - Talking about
How I'll never ever find a man like you
You got me twisted

You must not know about me
You must not know about me
I could have another you in a minute
matter fact he'll be here in a minute - baby

You must not know about me
You must not know about me
I will have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're irreplaceable

So since I’m not your everything
How about I'll be nothing
Nothing at all to you
Baby I wont shead a tear for you
I won't lose a wink of sleep
Cause the truth of the matter is
Replacing you is so easy

To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
Everything you own in the box to the left

To the left
To the left

Don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're irreplaceable

After Raya Resolution

Raya's finally over (almost...only 6 hrs to go) So much for Puasa 6, yours trully only accomplished 4/6...Okla for a first timer. Today's my last kopek for the month...Pening kepala yang amat...Anyway, I don't know about others, but this year has been extraordinarily hectic with open houses here and there, and on every single weekend...

Soo tired of eating by now (?) and I know for sure that dieting would be the next agenda for the rest of year. Miss Nellie would be my full supporter this time, and I hope this time it really works out well, and not half way, as usual :p Keeping my fingers crossed now...hmmm...I'm giving myself about 3 months to lose 10kg....Good luck Olyn!

Graduated Sis

I didn't really have time to update last week, but actually many events have happened, amongst them were my sister, Nita's graduation. She graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) Pharmacy from UiTM. The ceremony was grand...And the best part is that they could materialise every internal resources there are for the ceremony. There was the orchestra, the singers (opera singers OK...), deco mind of their own (but I wasn't too impressed with this though...a bit kampong...too much scallops for my liking...exterior of hall was good, beautiful orchids here and there but the interior...?), the catering for parents etc. Nita and Mak were looking their best, in my beading creation of course. I was OK la. :p Alhamdullillah...Everything went well, despite the Chancellor (Agong) not present. My sis actually made it through, without tumbling onto the Pro Chancellor or making a fool of herself. hehe. And I'm glad that my sis had eventually graduated as a professional. Just another sis to go. Me and Mak and the rest of the family are so proud of you Nita! And we pray only the best would come for your future intakes. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Unread

Remember the time when I said that I have started back my hobby of reading? Well, just recently, I bought a book on sale, by Adele Parks called 'The Other Woman's Shoes'. I haven't read it yet, but I sooo can't wait. I'm trapped though, coz I need to finish up what I'm reading now, 'Reasonable Doubt' by Philip Friedman. Its been a while since I've read a heavy storyline such as the latter. The story's good, no doubt, but I guess I'm just another typical girl who's in love with exploring what could happen to another typical girl on the other side of the world. Anyway, day by day time is too short for me, nowadays. I just can't seem to finish the book! I guess I'll just give myself another 2 weeks to finish, and if I'm still stuck, I'll just give up and go to the next one. Even the cover shows how tempting the book is, don't you think?

Rumah Terbuka

Last Saturday, sis and I had an Open House of our own, so that we could invite our friends over for a makan-makan. Me and Nita woke up for Subuh, and started cooking right after. Nita had prepared her fudge the nite before, alongside my ketupat and Na had arranged the table and tidied up the house. And there's of course preps for all the food for the day. Menu for the day was Nasi Beriani with Kurma Ayam and Daging Goreng Berlada, Shepherd's Pie and Coleslaw, and of course the classic Open House menu of Ketupat, Rendang Tok, Rendang Perak and Kuah Kacang. Mak had prepared the Daging Goreng Berlada, Rendang and Kuah Kacang, Nita had prepared the fudge and Coleslaw, and I prepared the rest of the spread. All was done by 11.30am, and so we had plenty of time to get made up and dressed.

We opened at 1pm, and my first guests streamed in. All those invited actually turned up, even from as far as Sungai Buloh and Shah Alam! I was going here and there, trying my very best to attend to each guests, and to encourage them to eat and drink more and more. We were so happy at the turn up of event, that we're definitely making one every year from now on. Food prepared was ngam-ngam (except for the Nasi Beriani and Kurma Ayam, which we had extras till yesterday) for the crowd of about 70 peeps (ramai kan?) I just hope that everyone that came were happy and satisfied with the food and our hospitality. Thousand apologees for any wrong-doings during your visit to our humble Open House. Hope to see all and even more next year. InsyaAllah...

Fasting in Syawal

I'm sure many are accustomed to Puasa 6 with exception of her highness Olyn of course...Today is my first day (very first day of my entire human life, mind you) performing such an act, and boy, how I'm surprised at how simple 30 days of fasting in Ramadhan is compared to what I'm going through now...Tummy churning and whining and protesting like nobody's business...Such a brat! But I must say that I'm amazed now at how tough people can be, not eating, in the month of eating...One of the guys looked at me this morning, and told me that my face just showed everything...Eyebags, tongue hanging (ramai la plak yg bwk kuih la, kek la), shoulders drooping ...With chest high and mighty, he announced to me that its his final 6th day...Jeles giler ok...How the heck did he resist all the open houses lining up through the week and weekend? Was it purely temptation that everyone (except me) can ignore or what? I totally salute that guy and everyone out there with me in the war (ahaks!) for God's love and consent...Its about 5 hours to go till buka puasa and 5 more days to go...
